Self Contained Small Engine Dynamometer
The SED-DY1 dyno is a simple to operate dynamometer (dyno) designed to measure power and test karting, mini bike, and other small racing engines. Power is measured by a load cell that is attached to a hydraulic pump, which acts as an engine brake. This dyno should not be confused with traditional Hydraulic Dynos that only measure hydraulic pressure. The SED-DY dyno is considerably more accurate and not affected by temperature change of the hydraulic fluid. While the SED-DY functions like a water brake dyno, it is portable and does not require any external water connections. Compared to an inertia dyno, the NR-DY is far more accurate and functional, allowing carb tuning, acceleration, and deceleration test, steady power readings, and engine brake-in. Compared to an eddy current dyno, the SED-DY dyno is a quarter of the price and just as accurate!
The SED-DY1 dyno is manually operated. While simple, it does require some operator skill to get consistent results. While a computer or automatic operation would be possible, this would add considerable cost and would not allow the flexibility of a manual dyno (carb tuning, power circuit tuning, etc.).
Available to test small block with 3/4" shaft (GX200 style and 6.5 clones), big block with 1" shaft (GX390, Predator 420, etc.), quarter midget engines (6 to 1 gear box, 3/4"), and GX270s with 2 to 1 gear boxes.
Maximum "real" HP is 35.

Does not include fuel tank or motor mounts, unless ordered additionally. Dyno is designed to use PMR motor mounts. Dynos are built to order and take 1 to 2 weeks to ship. See specials for in-stock dynos. Engine and/or exhaust system is not included.
